HAIR in your food, what do you do?

I would leave the restaurant and not pay the bill.

I once bought kroger brand frozen pretzels (the company was going out of business around the time and all of the groceries were basically on clearance) and there was a frozen dead fly in the pretzel dough. I threw away the entire box and never purchased the brand again. I think things like this vouch for the quality of the food preparation in general and I wouldn't trust the rest of the food if a slip like this is possible.

For me, it depends on the situation. If it's at home and I can identify it, then I don't get too worked up. If it's when I'm eating out and see one, I don't care if it's my own hair; I'm geeking out and can't eat anymore. Of course by then I'm pretty miffed. I'm not sure it's growing up that your behavior towards hair changed, but I do think seeing your son be so nonchalant when he finds hair in his food might have put things in perspective for you.

It's best not to think about the stuff in your food, just pull out what you find offensive, and go on eating. It is the thought of having someone's hair or a bug in your food that is gross, but it does not really harm the food.

There was an episode of Survivor a few seasons back where some group got to go on a boat and eat chicken wings. They brought back the bones for the rest of the tribe, who really cleaned those bones down to the shine. Back in the world, they would have never considered eating someone's scraps, but when you are hungry...

LoL, noooo I didn't see or pull a cockroach out, that would have ended it for me too. The little critter was walking up the wall, I had to watch that little bastard cuz he could have lost his footing and fell in to my food and that would have seriously bummed me out. Now if I hit a piece of fat/gristle thats where my eating stop, I get skeeved out more over that than seeing a hair.

If it's my own hair I'm grossed out, but will remove it and keep eating (depending how far it's stuck in my food, I have long hair!)

If it's someone else's hair I will change plates with whoever I'm eating with. hehe

Years ago I worked in a fast food restaraunt and every week this same fellow would buy a burger, eat 3/4 of it, and then put a hair in it and bring it back for another burger...Didn't take us long to get on to his scam!

I got into a argument at Hooters a few months ago over a hair in my chicken wing that waitress said was a feather!! Feathers aren't 12 inches long!!!!

I want my food free cuz I won't be eating anymore after that.

Sometimes it grosses me out other times not so much. One time my wife had cocktail with broken glass in it, that was more of a big deal.
