  • This is for Mr Coffee:

Do you prefer Tassimo to Keurig? Both are one-cup-at-a-time coffee/specialty drink makers. The Keurig is more expensive but offers more of a variety. The Tassimo, let's say, is DEDICATED to the quality of about 25 different coffees, teas, hot chocolates. Okay, okay ... the Keurig does macchiatos ... that I'm jealous of ... but anyway ... which do you prefer?

I never tried the Tassimo, but my parents bought a Keurig and I loved it! I also will do my own french press sometimes when I really want to get a nice cup. But I'm impressed with the quality of coffee that comes out of this bad boy.

I have a Keurig and LOVE it. All sorts of coffees and teas, and even hot chocolate. The cups just have to be dropped in and then the quad friendly handle pulled forward and 15 seconds later a cup of delicous joe. I like the Green Mountain and Caribou Coffee's especially.

o i know i asked about this on facebook, but i totally know what that is because of my OP appointments for my jacked up hip! o baby, they had one in the waiting room and t'was awesome. sooo worth the 50 cents. that stuff gets way hot, though. i want one for at home since i will burn myself with the kitchen aid coffee maker at home.

maybe i'll ask for that for christmas! i have the room and i'd definitely use it. can you get the coffee online? i'd look but i need to write a story about my school and i'm going to do it in the clock tower's perspective because it does the hourly bong in a "death's coming for you" tone. i'm typing like i had a ton of coffee but it was just water, i swear!

My s-i-l has the Keurig. I have used it a lot when we have stayed w/ her. Easy, and great coffee. My broke college student daughter thinks I should ask for it for Christmas. Don;t know how she is planning on that, unless she has been delegated by her (working) brothers to shop.

You can buy Keurig coffee K-cups from Amazon with free shipping if you spend over $25, and there are other great web sites like www.coffeegiant.com that always has good bargains.

Sorry for the delay in replying Lynnifer, I just read this thread now

                  I am a Tassimo fanatic!

I have owned a machine since they were first introduced into Canada about 2.5 years ago. I am replacing my machine later this week with a newer generation of Tassimo maker that is much better than the one I currently own. I have used mine so much that the compressor has worn out in it lol.

My sister owns a Kreuig and I have to say that there are things about it I like. There is a massively impressive array of coffees and teas one can buy for the k cup machines. It makes me a little jealous because the choices available to Tassimo users is considerably less. Even more so in Canada than other countries for some reason Although I have to say the choice is getting better, albeit very slowly. I can get a very limited range of choice from the store shelves here. If I want more choice, I have to order it on line or depend on the goodwill of friends and family in the US to ship it to me. However my sister says that she finds a limited range of k cups in the stores here too and she orders most of hers online as well. If one is willing to order online, the choice for Tassimo is significantly expanded.

One thing I do like a lot about the Tassimo is that the milk disks used to make the lattes, cappucinos, chai, and hot chocolate drinks come in a liquid form. As far as I know, Tassimo is the only single serve machine to have this. Other machines do make lattes and stuff but they use a powered milk. I think the lattes, etc that Tassimo makes taste a lot better because of this.

Although the choices of kinds coffee and tea for the Tassimo is limited, I am not sure that any other machine makes the range of drinks the Tassimo does, although I could be wrong. It makes coffee, tea, expresso, lattes, cappucinos, chai, and hot chocolate. So that is another thing I like. It is very multi purpose It also has 5 kinds of Starbucks disks and being a Starbucks freak, this appeals to me.

I think I like the Kreuig machines. But I LOVE the Tassimos. I can't wait to get my new one!

i don't know about the chai lattes and that but the hot chocolate is yums :yum:

the liquid disks sounds pretty sweet to me for the tassimo, but i'd have to try both of them to see which i like better since i've only had exposure (limited, at that...they didn't have much to choose from at the waiting room) to the keurig. i love both of the names though! is the keurig german?

we have a commercial keurig that I managed to pick up for next to nothing at Goodwill...YEAH!!! and have been thoroughly pleased with it!!! YEAH!!! it has a water-line hook up which is a mega huge bonus over having to fill the resoivoir
Another plus of the Keurig over the Tassimo is that you can buy a filter & use your own coffee...Good for my family whom is can't always afford to purchase the K-cups...a $15 gold reusable filter is a huge blessing!!!

I was going to get the Tassimo as a gift a couple years ago, but I thought the single serve was too small, and given that it goes into a single cup size, I'd assume it would mainly fit ceramic or glass type cups?
                          How many Oz. per cup/disk?
What cups/mugs do you guys use to prevent the cup from getting hot?

Cali, if this gets too hot, I'd think a coffeemaker would be easier, since you can pour the decanter into a heatproof or insulated cup? The main thing is getting a decanter with the right handle/design and using a a pad or towel to guard against hand if necessary. If the pot is next to the sink, you can just put your cup in the sink and pour the coffee without lifting the pot.

I'm not much into instant coffee's, but am curious how these instant disks taste like.
OJ, do the starbucks disk taste anything like their new VIA instant?

Broknwing, the cost was also a consideration for me, and given I always drink more than a single cup per, it didn't seem worth the bang for the buck. The options for direct water line and using your own filter/coffee are good, but do they still only make/release single size servings?

But, I'm still interested in trying it out, particularly for the teas and cocoa's (btw, do they have non-fat or low-sugar options?).

This is definitely what all waiting rooms should have!

Lynnifer, depending on cost, I might lean toward an espresso maker.

                            Chick,

The coffee is great I think, I think trench press is the only thing that tastes better imo compared to these. I just don't fill up the cup all the way up to the top or if it does I will just dump some out and carry in inbetween my legs! dangerous but I go slow. If i'm going to work I'll just use one of those nice portable coffee mugs and they reduce the heat all together usually.

The press can make some good coffee too. I haven't used that much, as my coffeemaker is much simpler. Careful with that lap, mr_!

I just remembered, that there are double walled mugs to keep cold drinks from getting wet from condensation, so these types can be used for hot drinks as well. Looking at the accessories for Tassimo, they do sell them Bormioli Mugs

But, doesn't seem to have handles. You can get similar mugs, with handles, cheaper elsewhere though.
