Love ham hock and beans, a food I grew up with and still love to eat. With cornbread, or homemade bread with butter. Yummy.

Wow, food is an even more popular subject than sex around here.

This thread makes me soooooo hungry, thanks guys. We're still arguing about it but we have to cook on Monday night.

To eat like a true (North) American the real key is not so much what you eat as it is to make sure you eat too much of it.

It's funny. I like bacon, ham, pork chops, peameal bacon etc. but don't understand the fanatical appeal of the pig roast. I have been to bbq's when guys are standing around the roast pit all day watching and drooling until it comes off the spit and then wolfing it down in mass quantities. I'll try some and think "This is it?" I guess I just don't like smokey meat that much.

The one place I worked at threw a pig roast every summer and sold tickets for $60 each. They always sold out quick and the pig was not even a very big one so I don't think it was a feast.

How many tickets would they sell for the pig roast? You'd be surprised how many people you can feed with a small pig.

Still $60 for bbq pork and salads seemed a bit much.

I've been to pig roasts ... the meat is disgusting and greasy. Add that with all the alcohol consumed (I grew up on a farm - pig roasts were popular back in high school) and blah!
Roses are red. Tacos are enjoyable. Don't blame immigrants, because you're unemployable.

You could always go roasted beef instead.

                                I wouldn't pay $60 for a pig roast! Yikes!

                                Maybe $15.

I've had good roasted pig, but usually it is ready 6 hrs. after you planned to eat-so you're starving! (And intoxicated LOL.)
