    Quadriplegic Parenting Resources

Are there any forums discussing parenting techniques?

I am a c5/c6 with two daughters (4 & 2) and I would love to read or discuss with others about strategies not only for discipline but for applying play time at their level.

Any direction forward would be greatly appreciated.

Facebook has a bunch of parenting with disabilities pages.

The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.

There are quite a few forums on Facebook for parents of special children to communicate. And many of these forums are supervised by professional doctors and teachers who tell parents of special children how to care for such a baby properly. When my husband and I turned to fosterplus.org, we had already decided that we intended to adopt a child with health problems, as we could financially help such a child and give him a decent life. At the same time, we started collecting information about children with down syndrome and learned a lot thanks to Facebook.

This question is not about "special" children, but about parents who have disabilities and are raising their own children. Not the same thing at all. (KLD)
