  • Quadriplegic using pulley weight to stretch arms and shoulders

https://youtu.be/ylz5ISptcgc I try to make this a part of my regular routine and it helps my arms. Specifically I can reach things better and not have to get my wheelchair right u to something to get it.

I've watched some of your videos. It seems you are highly motivated which is great.

Mind if I ask some questions?

Are you still noticing improvement with exercise? Functional improvement to where you feel realistically you will be able to community walk at some point? Obviously there are no crystal balls but just wondering how you feel like it can progress.

How are your hands? Any finger movement/ dexterity?

Sorry for the personal questions but im in a VERY similar situation as you return-wise. 3 years out from injury and still trying to hold onto hope I can get there without science...

I do not mind questions at all, I'm no expert but I think we should help each other as we can from out experiences. And from my view especially those who are motivated and fighting to make any kind of progress whether it be maximal or minimal.

I still notice improvements, I notice if I get in a slump and stop my exercise routines that my functionality is not as good. I notice the difference. Community walk, I never really thought I could get there, but at points where I would really focus on gait training I could see the logical possibility. But I don't think I have the resources / help / finances for what it would take to get to that point. But that doesn't stop me from trying to do what I can and figure out what I can to keep moving forward to what I think I have the ability to accomplish. Walking would be nice, no ship right? But for me I see a true possibility of being able to stand up and sit from my wheelchair and just stand and spend time out of the wheelchair. So that goal is reasonable for me to fight for, though it is not in any way presenting itself to be easy. I have not figure it out yet. But if and when I do, if I can get to my feet unassisted, then walking might be closer.

My right hand and finger dexterity is amazingly functional. My left, not very good. I did give up on my left hand and arm for quite some time thinking it was a waste of time. But then I realized if I worked on it that it would at least have a chance to improve. So I work it the same as my right side and though it is still very limited I have seen improvements from my efforts.

Hold on my friend, don't quit, do what you can. If you have ideas of things you want to work on, find the courage to ask someone who you know is capable to help you with setting up a way to do the exercise. God bless you and feel free to ask me anything and keep in touch.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write that detailed response. I really appreciate it.

I think we have a lot in common. Only my left is the better side

Take care!!! I'm going to watch the rest of your videos

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzySiOvcvLA

we have made a lot of improvements since then, some worked, some didnt, without sounding rude, i suggest you invest in something like

          https://accesstr.com/gloves-cuffs/gr...-gloves-cuffs/

i get mine made but you can do so much more without risking finger or wrist injury, eg. do pushes to build shoulder strength

I remember seeing your video before and searching for that pulley system with no luck, do you still use it? I've always wanted and looked at the active gloves, I wish they were cheaper but hopefully I will get one some time.

Thank you for this info! Did you have a drawing of how you wanted your glove made?

alto mine are custom made, these are pretty close

                  https://www.wish.com/product/58afaca...kaAq2HEALw_wcB

they should have like a thin metal bar in the underside for wrist support
mine also have a bar\ teflon piece sewn into the top back of wrist side too. (for boxing)
& velcro as wide as hand that comes over the knuckles to strap in weight bars or making a fist to punch bags
we recently tried a key chain ring hooked into the inside of the wrist (to eliminate using water ski handles ) but found when doing tricep\shoulder pushes, i lost control of the rope
but great idea just for doing pulls, you dont need the velco over the fist
even a velcro strap around the wrist with a hook in it would work for pulls.
