  • Stretching advice

The muscle on the back of my right thigh has gotten so tight I almost can't stretch it out. Anybody else have an issue like this? We do all the normal stretches, sitting with my legs straight out, on my back legs straight up, on my stomach and my wife lifts my leg straight up (nice stretch on the front), and other stretches. I have never ever been flexible. I see videos all the time of people and they look like they're made out of rubber, it blows my mind. I think my lower back is so full of arthritis it's starting to freeze up, making it even worse.
    I'm open to suggestions. Thanks

Have you been evaluated by a physiatrist or PT about this? Have you had tests for HO (heterotopic ossification)? This can first show up as loss of ROM in spite of doing good stretching.

The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.

I haven't been evaluated. I've seen, I thought, was an excellent PT, for seating, that deals with SCI and she never brought this up. Thanks, I'll look into this.
