    Question for power chair users

Have you noticed will this be the norm now for these wheelchair foot plates. Have we all turned into only having one leg all of a sudden. I might be wrong but maybe they do adjust to go outward, but it doesn't look that way from the picture. I am asking myself and others do you really want your 2 feet to be on 1 foot plate. It doesn't make sense It's gonna make your legs start going outward. Any thoughts. I think it's another stupid design.Click image for larger version

Some split plates can be widened out a few inches.

I hope you're correct and certainly hope so that's the way they work. All the pictures I've seen and many seen have solid plates and don't even split. I've never seen them opened up to a wider length. But of course that will definitely make sense. Who the hell wants their feet and legs all squeezed together. I guess know when the time comes.

I for one do not want this type of foot plate. I am trying to get a new chair now. This foot plate is what the reps try to push on me. These are not good for a wheelchair user. My feet tend to jump off the sides of them. My right leg was fractured because of this. Had to keep a splint on it for over 3 months because of this.

It's mid wheel drive. Caster swivel my limit how far apart the plates can be.

I had a rear drive for a short time. With it, foot plates would hit front caster tires if foots were not elevated slightly. It also limited speed to very slow with feet all the way down because casters would jam.

So many reasons front drive is better
