I would stay away from fluid mattresses. As it mentions in the Craig website rarely use at home-those are for bed-bound post flap.

if you go to the span America website that KLD listed above -look to the left for patient section - there is a flow chart on the best mattress to choose based on your needs

Not a big fan of SizeWise products (which are mostly designed for the bariatric or very obese patient). (KLD)

their lal mattresses all seem to have a foam top which defeats the purpose no?

I have bony hips that used to get red from sleeping on them. Now I use 4-inch memory foam (5 lb density) on top of a hospital mattress. I never have a problem, 37 years post injury.

Thanks, even the Tempurpedic overly wasnt good enough for my old skin.

I agree. I think you need to find a good quality LAL mattress. Unfortunately that will be private pay as Medicare will not cover unless you have a stage 3 or 4 pressure injury. (KLD)

I bought the Joerns Flapcair as I got a "good" price on medMart..

I thought that Medicare only paid if you have more than one wound? Maybe I can get reimbursed some?
