Hi everyone, i'd like to start this thread to find out who of you who have been in many chairs of the years also who take pride and care in your chairs, like myself i try look after everything i get, i even take extra time to get in and out of the car with a pad just to not scratch my chair or car, scuffing a push rim is like some women breaking her nail to me haha, but i get them powder coated black so they blend in to the theme of the chair, i even order special anodised washers and nuts to match the chairs colour theme, so now you know my little obsession about my chair, i'd like to hear from everyone else please as my new chair from new makes a noise, like a high pitched click? its not the front castors or any part of the rear wheels or rims, i know the sounds of spoke noise even running spinergy blades, ive had the chair back to the place where i bought it about 4 times, i even went down and demonstrated it to them and they agreed it was coming from somewhere near the rear axle, its a fully welded titanium chair, they says there are moving parts etc but to me a fully welded chair should not make any noise, unless its a wheel problem as they are the only parts that move, ive tried different wheels different pins, no footplate, no side guards etc and its the same, although its not loud its noticeable especially in the house and its really annoying, but my partner says ''i dont hear it'' and others ive spoke to have said i wouldnt be bothered, at this point the company have gave up so to speak as they are happy with the chair, it meets their ''tolerances'' and i have to live with this click noise, its mainly after i have span around and pushed away, i have heard it is the camber bar inserts as they are only welded on the outside, im wondering where i can go from here with this, could i diy feed some very strong bond down the camber bar to the other side? find someone who could do something similar for me regardless of safty etc etc? but this has left me with that question does your chair ''click''?? its nota creak, my old tr3 has a folding backrest with blots etc and the camber bar is clamped on as is everything else so i would expect a 9 year old chair like that to make some noises, but not a brand new fully welded frame, any feedback would be great thank you

look for a person that does TIG welding if you want the bar done.
i had a click in mine for the longest time i couldn't find. even got a crack test dye kit. i eventually found one front caster had a bearing that had a loose fit. i'd of sworn the sound was from the rear, but when i fixed that bearing it went away.
-
my clicking was a lot like yours. i couldn't make it happen on purpose. i found it by accident. i was buzzing down a hill and it sounded like a caster was loose. i was tightening one of the stems and noticed one from wheel was a tiny bit loose. tried to tighten the axle, shimmed it, etc. took it apart and the bearing was just loose enough in the wheel to come out by putting my finger in the inner race. i lived with the noise for a while then got a new set of front wheels and noise is gone. my casters are 1 1/2 x 5 plastic.

my castors are also brand new carbon frog legs ones and upgraded the bearings straight away to the bones reds, sometimes i can go into the kitchen and come back to my desk and theres nothing, then ill move within my chair and it will click, weird

when does it click? stationary and when you adjust or shift your weight left, right, front, back? when you are rolling?
If you don't have the mechanic's ear available, you should be able to place your hand on different spots of the wheelchair and feel the clicking.

its brand new, and its fully welded no release bars or axle bolted on just welded all the way, i see what you mean about if i could get it to do it all the time might make it easier to identify, because i feel the noise its far end of the camber bar it might be tricky to hold that piece while moving around :P

Have you checked your quick-release axles for adjustment? Tightening them until they just lock but no extra play?
Are your spokes all tensioned evenly/properly?
-
theres no play in them when you move them the button does make alot of noise and moves but its a different pitch, as for the wheels they are brand new spingery blades so i coulnt tell you but i have had different wheels on it and it did the same thing

i think i could be closer to the problem, so i have laminate flooring in my kitchen and its fairly big, so i do the usual loop from being at the sink doing a 180 pushing across to the bench about 3 meters away and back again, so i was doing this as i noticed the click happened after i pushed away after about 1 meter, i did this over and over and it just seemed to happen all the time, so i was trying to push across and put my finger where i thought the noise was coming from and ended up with my finger on the big push button on the axle pin and i think i felt something, but not consistently, so i did this a few more times and now and then felt it, so i half pulled the pin out say around 2 cm so the button was compressed and ball bearings in the sleeve and did the same route and it didnt do it once! so clicked my axle pin back in and tried again but still nothing lol so any thoughts on this?
Also could an axle pin have an affect if you are stationary and shuffled around or leaned far left? i duno how they are exactly made, so not sure what part could be the cause, if it is that ofc

ive adjusted alot of wheels, i know the process, they fit almost perfect, just enough for the button to pop out when locked and no play but like i said if i pull the wheel out so its in the sleeve and not locked in, the noise goes away so i dont know what part of the axle pin is causing this noise

Have you swapped pins from another wheel? or even wheel to wheel? is your axle sleeve tight? They do sell replacement sleeves if thats it. Or replace your camber tube.
-
i did originally try my older pins off my other chair which did the same thing, i havent tried this time around, axle sleeve is welded in, camber tube has just been replaced which wasnt cheap, i dont know if its the balls at the end or something near the big button as there is a spring in there, also i can feel it click when i put my finger on the button when it happens, wonder if all pins are made the same way?
