    odor-free trash bags

I use a lot of plastic bags most for dealing with odors from chronic bladder colonization and so on. I have not found any that keep the odor inside the bag. I even tried the simplehuman brand, which makes the best I've found, but odor still leaks out.

I use about 8 of these bags a day. The ones I use are about 10 gallons but I rarely need them that big. It's also a major expense at this point. I use them as general trash bags too.

I was thinking of trying medical waste bags, but I am not sure if I can put these in the general trash. (Or if they work either).

    Any suggestions?

I use bags from ororno.com or hempsac.com they are run by the same people - I only use them when I do my bowel program, 3 days a week. They have various sizes and prices. I would imagine it could get costly if used every day. Good luck !

have you tried a paper towel with Pine-sol on it, thrown in the bag. we do that in the out house in the corner to kill the smell in there.

freezing your bags until garbage day?

I'm not sure I understand how there is so much waste created

After my colostomy I got an Ubbi diaper disposal bin, and use their special garbage bags with it. I’ve been pleasantly surprised (and relieved) at the odor control and strength (no leaks in 2+ years 🤞). The only downside for me is that they are intended to be closed with a knot, and that task is beyond my quad hands. I wrap a piece of duct tape around as tight as I can muster and it has been acceptable, if not ideal.

UTI/colonization, urinary incontinence, intermittent to a container, staying in bed for many hours at a time.

Are you using good quality bags and sealing them tightly? Do you double bag it? Do you apply enzyme spray for waste odor control? I use 10-gallon standard office wastebasket bags for both kitchen and bathroom waste. It's very economical even if you go through a lot of them.

I seal tightly and double bag. I have not tried enzyme spray. There is something about UTI odors that seems to get through most normal plastic bags.

UTI is because of too many bacteria, which is also the reason for the smell. If staining isn't an issue (for example, no one cares about garbage being stained), consider a bleach solution spray. Doesn't need to be full strength. A mild solution will do. It will be less expensive than enzyme spray.

Clorox bleach spray helped a lot. Thank you for the suggestion!

My urine always smelled bad and I just learned of D-Mannose and cranberry supplements. The odor went away right away and still comes back a little but nowhere near what it used to be. I used to be embarrassed if someone used the bathroom aftr me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1. this bottle says 2 a day but i take one and it works fine
