DME in OKC area?

While I did not disagree with much of what you say, I am discouraged with some of your comments, particularly the one about PT’s and OT’s. Most therapists are caring practitioners, who may or may not have had experience with these types of issues. I would just encourage you to be a little less condemning of two professions.

I am not saying this to go back and forth with you- just as a perspective that is diffyfrkm yours. Not good or bad.

Got a couple calls, one from DME that our doc had done paperwork with referral for seating. Later a local PT place called to make appointments.

I ask DME what brands they usually sold and was told they already have suggestions for each of us. Me a Quantum Edge, I have old one. Mama they said a Merits Avid Velocity. We have never heard of the Velocity, anyone know or have one?


RollinPositive, Don't think Mama and I ever had same model chairs. She prefers a RWD and I usually just get something I've never had before.
Be interesting see how they talk Mama into anything but RWD.

Guess we'll see if anything actually happens!

Merits Avid Velocity wheelchair. The company also makes scooters. I am not familiar with the brand...but I would be leary of a DME that make recommendations for only one brand, especially without the person being evaluated first by a RESNA certified seating specialist.

KLD, Thank you for information and the link. Showed Mama it and she is doubtful about 6 wheels. My old Q6 she hated using it complained how way castors moving around so much and she had hard time getting it onto lift. Now we have ramp van and it's a good bit narrow compared to our old van's lift.
I do know we will have demo before we decide. Hope we find out something after the seating thing this week.
