Does anyone remember the Damaco motor add-on?

The major difference between the Damaco and this unit is the heavy lead batteries vs the slim lithium battery pack today.
The Damaco sprinted faster than all the electric wheelchairs on the market back in the mid 80ties.
This one has two puny 130w motors compared to the Damaco that had a pair of 350w motors.
The Damaco was made in the USA.

I remember the Damaco units. GJ had one. He used it on both his Quickie manual chairs a rigid for daily use and a scissor fold for travel. He had two travel cases. One for the batteries and one for the drive unit.

Before the Damaco unit, there was one called Motorette, originally in 12 volt, then later, 24 volts. Those contact wheels really tore up the tires on the chair though, especially when they got wet/

My mother had a Damaco for her Quickie 2 for a few years. You had to steer and use the controls with a tiller like a scooter, and it weighed a ton. As her MS progressed she couldn't operate it any more and went full-time to a power chair.
