Why are wheelchair tire locks so poorly designed?

    Mmmmmm...yeah. I miss mine. Heavy af though. I don't remember the name of the guy that designed the XTR, Doug somethingoranother iirc, he went on to work for TiLite. He wrote an article years ago about how he designed and intended it to be double heat treated, before and after welding. This made for a much stronger aluminum alloy which allowed for thinner tube walls. The prototype frame, with full suspension, was supposedly less than 15lbs. Once Quickie started making it, decided it was too expensive, so no post-welding tempering, so thicker tubes, and BOOM...instant +5lbs.
