  • Close and high transfer

When your transfer target is close and high, you may want a 12" curved transfer board. For example, getting into bed when the bed is several inches higher than the wheelchair. When using a flat 24" long transfer board for this transfer, the end sticks up and gets in the way. For this transfer I use the curved plastic piece from a product call lumbar extender. Not only is the length ideal, but the curve makes a perfect landing. What do you use for close and high transfers?

Very clever way to repurpose a product. It is probably more useful to you as a transfer board than back stretcher.

Absolutely right. For me, it's a transfer board that doubles as a back stretcher.
