  • ergo ergonomic seating users, lovers/haters what cushion do you use?

    I'm seriously thinking of going ergo seating with my next chair.

    what experience do folks have... especially those that tried it and hated it etc...

    At the moment I'm using a ride custom cushion, but have been told this won't work with Ergo seating!

    Nervous about going for it, but it seems to make sense.

    I have ergo seating; PT told me few use (or like it). I discovered my preference for it by accident while experimenting with various fabrications/methods to stay in my chair when decelerating downhill. Because I was using a home-made, ad hoc ergo seat on my AeroZ, PT ordered for me one built into my TR.

    While learning about ergo during experiments, I read that ergo seating doesn't work well unless dump is >4IN. Without ergo seating, my TR would have ~6IN dump. My TR's CAD is linked in my signature.

    Be aware, ergo seating significantly changes the appropriate footrest height. My AeroZ sans ergo had a seat to footrest distance of 15.5 IN; with same cushion, my TR's distance is 13.5 IN. The reason is my thigh angle is so much greater, my knee joints are much higher (remember, the seat-to-footrest distance is measured from the seat's front, which is inches behind the knee joint.)

    Cushion = Comfort Company Adjuster.

        I would be concerned about having my knees so far up that I am putting extra pressure on my butt.

          on my current chair i'm at 12 degrees for the angle of my seat pan.
          Doing a very rough measurement on the photo it looks like that front angled bar is at about 20 degrees - the red line.
          The green line is about 13 degrees.
