    Driving with Power assist wheelchair

C7 quad, weak triceps, trunk control is ok, no grip other than tennodesis

I have a manual chair with the power assist wheels and I'm trying to find the right car configuration for it.
    My current vehicles:
    2003 Braun dodge van.
I can take the driver seat out and pull in with the wheelchair.
there is an EZ lock already but they do not make a bracket for under my ti lite chair and I have no additional way to tie down
    2007 honda element
also has an Ez lock but I am not able to fit the chair in quite right

getting a car that I transfer into and break down the chair won't work because the power assist wheels are too heavy for me to easily move

Could you transfer to a driver seat in van and leave chair assembled? That's what I do with my chair that has power assist wheels. The driver seat is a "transfer seat" so I can slide it back & rotate it to make the transfer from inside van. I use several bungee cords to hook my wheelchair to back of passenger seat and make sure wheel locks are on tight. Not as safe as EZ lock but because I'm not riding in the chair it works for me.

You just swap out your old base for theirs.

I have had periodic paralysis all my life. I lost my ability to walk in 2011 beginning with a spinal block, which was used for a hip fracture caused by periodic paralysis.

How is you seated height in the Braun Dodge van?

Can you see over the steering wheel no problem?

Give me a call later today or tomorrow and i'd be more than happy to talk about options.

You could more than likely find a used one.

A used 6 way transfer seat would more than likely cost about the same as setting it up for you to drive from the chair.

One of these wouldn't even come close to woking in a lowered floor mini van application.

Thanks, I just learned what a " Braun dodge van" is. When I woke this morning I was going to post that the OP should call and make sure it would fit anyway, but you folks are three hours ahead of us.

I drive from a quickie gp swing away chair that uses the Extender power assisted system and has an easy lok bracket mounted below. In fact I was lucky enough that I am able to use this chair or my permobil power chair, though the fit is better with the power chair, which is my primary care.
