    Brain controlled robotic suit

I don't know why this got moved. It's not like this suit is for sale. Someone must be anti-mechanical "cure".

Thank you for posting this. This is a let down though. Miguel Nicolelis has been doing research on implanted brain computer interfaces and for years has been saying he will try to have a paralyzed person "kick" a ball using that technology. It appears he over-hyped himself (it helped sell his book that's for sure). But now he's going to use a EEG cap for his World Cup stunt. That is complete bait and switch. He should just cancel his stunt. There is no shame in that. There is shame in having a pre-programmed suit kick a soccer ball and have it falsely appear to be controlled by the mind of the paralyzed individual in the suit.

However, this type of BCI technology will probably be the first ticket out of a full-time chair.

The University of Houston, The Methodist Hospital of Houston, RexBionics and TIRR are working together on Brain-Machine Interface Systems for stroke and SCI.
The lead researcher is Jose L. Contreras-Vidal, PhD.

BTW: the SCI subject in both the healio article and the rexbionics homepage is a practicing surgeon.
