    TiLite TR3, Cushion Measurements

A while back I posted the CAD for my wheelchair measurements here.

I have a question for you experts.

My cushion measurement is 16x16. However, the wheelchair depth on the CAD is 17". I asked my DME why the wheelchair and cushion depth differ. He said it was because the ADI solid back will take an inch away from the overall depth, thus making the effective seath depth 16".

Does anyone here disagree with that?

1" is a bit liberal of an estimate. My mileage puts it closer to .5". The cushion compresses quite a bit, so when measuring without an occupant it may read that way, on a tape, though.

The cushion dosen`t need to be exactly the same size your frame seat, even is better a bit shorter and narrower.

So from the responses I got I can assume my DME is correct?

The problem I have with my current chair is 17" butts right up against the back of my leg. I feel it also pulls me a bit forward in my seat. I want to be certain this will not be the case in my new chair. I'd like to be able to grab my legs and lift them without have to move forward in my chair.
