  • Motomed Viva 2 versus RTI 300

    All,

I have a son with a C5/C6 SCI incomplete. He is just coming off of a 3 month therapy stint at Kennedy Krieger in Baltimore and needs to continue his workout regimen for the next few months until the insurance clock resets.

We would really like to keep him going with an FES bike but the price tag on the RTI 300 (which is what he uses at K-K) is pretty much out of our reach, even for most of the used ones I've seen.

This weekend, I came across mention of another model called the Motomed Viva 2 (the FES-version of the basic Motomed bike). From the manufacturer's video on YouTube, the Motomed appears to do the same thing that the RTI 300 including the multi-channel electrical stimulation.

I looked on this forum and saw some scattered comments over the years about the Motomed that leave me hopeful but before I rush out and buy one, I really want to hear from anyone who may be able to give me a real comparison of the two--the good, bad, and the ugly (if there is any).

Any/all assistance would be very, very much appreciated!

Here in Pennsylvania people are free to use our RTI for free. Have you checked with RTI to see who near you has a RTI that you can use?

I did shortly after he was hurt (about 2 years ago) but haven't since then. Guess it's time that I did.

Still, I would like to hear people's opinions of the Motomed as it would be nice (if this is what he needs) to have something at home.

            ##bump##

No one has an opinion one way or another?

How about just on the Motomed? Good, bad, indifferent?
