    can any smart phone be programmed to open garage doors with radio or infrared controls

    I found this link, but haven't studied it.

    Sears sells a garage door opener factory wired to be operated by cell phone.

      Hmmm I know iPhones have all kinds of apps. Like a remote app for tv and stuff. Maybe they have an app for that

        maplins in the uk has a remote base station you can wire to whatever you need to operate, then you control it by text message. lights, garage door, curtains, ac, etc... doesnt matter how far away you are. preprogramme a few text messages and you can operate with a few clicks. im not sure what the us equivalent of maplins would be... radioshack?
