When it comes to a potential cure, the politics and personality of the CEO is something you care about?

I'm not a big fan of Elon Musk however he absolutely revolutionized the electric car industry. Something people on the left should be very happy about. He's also making space travel/tourism a reality.

Along with some other businesses that have helped quality of life for people, I personally could not care less about his political views, how he runs a social media company, etc...

I concur. I use a Tesla with hand controls because I wanted an electric car and it was the best option for me (especially at the price point). I personally find Musk's politics and public social media tantrums to be annoying and potentially very dangerous for society, but I don't really care if his company is the first one to successfully achieve a technology. If we get closed loop epidural stimulation and sensory implants in our brain, I'll be thrilled! And for that reason I'm personally ok signing up for clinical trials (though I'm NOT ok with the idea of being in the first batch!)
