    SCI and hyperbaric oxygen treatment

When I read that Michael J. Fox lost his parkinson's symptoms while in country of bhutan, I wondered if it was the pure oxygen up there and found this 2014 clinical trial with rats getting HBOT. Why hasn't there been a follow-up? Would it harm a person with SCI to try? There's portable hyperbaric device that's very reasonable and convenient. Longer, more frequent treatments at home \could be very effective. Link - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5510295/

I listened to Michael J.Fox’s book on audio last week and also found his description of the effects of being 7,000 feet about sea level in Bhutan interesting.

at 7000 feet elevation there is ~5/6 of the oxygen available at sea level, so unless he was in a pressurized and/or on oxygen, he was in a much "leaner" oxygen environment.

There is plenty of research on this, look for Acute Intermittent Hypoxia. There is a nice overview here https://cdmrp.army.mil/scirp/researc...oxia_highlight
Lots of other researchers have done work on it.

Spaulding Rehab in Boston has been conducting a trial on this for a while; only open to Asia D so I haven't paid a ton of attention to it.

Thanks for the replies. I've heard of the hypoxic therapy trials and tried twice a rented iht therapy for home use. I didn't do much exercise during sessions and only gave me a little more energy. I see that trial is almost over and hope the results are positive so I can get real iht therapy....
