NIH budget is about $30 billion. If NIH spends $120 million on spinal cord injury research, that means only 0.4% of the NIH budget is spent on spinal cord injury. Two institutes have the responsibility for spinal cord injury research: NINDS (the neurological institute) and NICHD (the child health institute). NIHCD has the National Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Research.
