I had this fact listed back in 2006 ? does anyone know if this is still true?

NIH budget is about $30 billion. If NIH spends $120 million on spinal cord injury research, that means only 0.4% of the NIH budget is spent on spinal cord injury. Two institutes have the responsibility for spinal cord injury research: NINDS (the neurological institute) and NICHD (the child health institute). NIHCD has the National Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Research.

I am sure you can get that information from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation: https://www.christopherreeve.org/

The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.

I don't know but research and new innovations have kept us alive and healthier much longer than estimates when I was first injured. Seems there are a lot more incompletes also due to better first aid at the scene.
