    Head Transplantation

This topic has been posted a few times before, but this article addresses the current limitations of such a procedure based on the opinion of an independent expert rather than the nut-job Italian surgeon who's been touting it for several years now.

"That said, "there are other ways" of potentially successfully reattaching the spinal cord, Hardy said. He believes it may be possible "sometime in the next 10 to 12 years."

So we've got that going for us...

They can now download your brain and memory and put it into a working clone of you. I've seen it on Westworld and Altered Carbon :-)

Yeah, I like the altered carbon version better than the whole suicide-by-surgeon version.

As I 'headed' to get my 'headphones' and it reminded me I haven't heard any recent 'headlines' from this 'headsurgeon' nor his 'headquarters'... does anybody know if they went 'ahead' with it? Not trying to be a knuclehead or hothead... I did ask my 'redhead' 'headnurse' but all this now's giving a 'headache' perhaps I'll try a "headband" on my 'forehead' and lean on the 'headrest'... -no pun intended...

The thread and article is from 2 years ago ... there's not much interest in it.

I know the Russian man, Valery Spiridono, mentioned in the above link as one of the potential head transplant patients. He was gung-ho on this surgery, maybe because his future was bleak, i.e. he was born with SMA, a form of Muscular Dystrophy that is generally terminal by the time you are 30. However, there is a new treatment for SMA called Spinraza, that can actually reverse the disease. Currently, it is prohibitively expensive, but newer more effective treatments are on the horizon. I suspect that he decided wait for a safer treatment.
