  • During the video in the OP, it was estimated that these simulators 'would be in our hands' around mid-2019. Can anyone speak to what the funding snafu has done to this timeline? Will we have it by mid-2020 or what?

    • Mid 2020 is likely, assuming someone invests a few million...I mean NRT is making progress still due to the dedication of Terrafranca and his staff, but funding would speed things up considerably. They need an iteration or two more on the hardware and the user interface as well as for deploying the simulators and training clinical staff.

      Any ideas for funding sources?

I don't have any particularly helpful options, especially given that the ROI seems so straightforward (known/defined market, easy to adopt product, modest cost, etc.). In other words, investor/venture people should be lined up!

Wings for Life will only fund research. I asked the CEO and without breaking any trust thats what she told me.

I met the UW folks while they were training with Terrafranca. I was visiting NRT and doing a couple workouts at Strides SCI. Best SCI therapy place ever, BTW. Very cool the success the UW team has had. Fund this now. If it only helps 5% of SCIs, it's worth $10-20 million to get it through trials and into our doctors' and PTs' hands and onto our spines to see if anything happens. Imagine you're a higher thoracic or cervical and only get better trunk stability or a stronger grip. I don't know about you, but that would be huge for me. We should kick-start it. We could do that.
