    Fampridine-SR

    https://www.drugs.com/availability/generic-ampyra.html

I see that Fampridine SR by Accorda will lose its exclusivity this coming January. Become an orphan drug. Amazing it's still only drug available for inc. sci...Jan

    Hi Folks,

I have one unopened bottle of Ampyra (60 x 10mg) with expiration in July 2017.
If someone want it - I will mail it for Free.
I got 2 bottles from our Forum member for free and use up one bottle.
Than I have switched to 4-AP-3-MeOH which I have used for several months.
When supply of 4-AP-3-MeOH start to be tricky and my dosage come up to 6 capsules by 0.5 mg
daily I have decided to stop till things with 4-AP-3-MeOH get clear.
I would still consider good supply and lower price for 4-AP-3-MeOH If someone knows??
    (I did pay $ 1.00 per capsule before and got it from http://mod4all.com/);

That's very disappointing and that website can't be found. I really need the better 4-AP too...Jan

The website is still up but I was emailed by a stand-in saying the admin is in hospital so ordering is a bit hit and miss.

4-AP medication and stem cell treatment both target demyelinated axons for better conduction

I noticed some similarities between wumedical's anecdotal SCI stem cell treatment case, Asteria's prelim cervical AST-OPC1 reports and reports about use of 4-AP (4-Aminopyridine), a potassium channel blocker. They all appear to target demyelinated axons with poor conduction. Asterias even mentions the target of their AST-OPC1 stem cells is demyelinated axons.

So I got 4-AP compounded and tested it at 10mg x 4 times a day dose, after which I noticed the following benefits. I'm a C4 incomplete.

            - greatly reduced spasticity allowing noticably faster heel-to-toe walking
            - sweating for the first time down my back -> a marked improvement in sensation
            - increased firmess through the core
            - better hand dexterity and alleviation of shoulder tightness/pain

These are similar benefits to what wumedical stories say.

I've then concluded then that anybody contemplating stem cell therapy should consider trying 4-AP first to gauge how much remyelination potential exists, along with functional gains obtained. 4-AP is a lot cheaper than stem cell therapy though of course when your not on it, the benefit is gone. Asterias' AST-OPC1 stem cell treatment above and below the injury site is about as good as it gets. Though that's still at a clinical trial phase

Pauly, thank you for posting!! I emailed mod4all and haven't heard back so I didn't know if their site was working again. I found it on a year old post. What terrific news, but not that the admin is in hospital. I have a C3/4 sci and am only on 5 mg of 4-AP, which isn't enough lately. Earlier I got benefit from using Intermittent Hypoxic Therapy, but can't afford it now. I've found 4AP-3-MeOh to be more effective, safe, less needed, and affordable with mod4all. I think you'd like it! -Jan

No reply yet from mod4all.com. What's a stand-in?? IHT is in clinical trial around Atlanta for people with chronic, incomplete sci at high and low levels and it's significantly helping them to stand and walk better, less seizures etc. Rehab follows IHT which is forcing better lung function and giving you more energy. Go to hypoxico.com for more info and a video. I rented the equipment and didn't get right protocol the first month, but it did give me more energy for months w/ very little 4-AP. Was hoping it would've helped heal sci better, but must take longer..
