Help us win 50K eur for SCI cure!

    Hello CCers,
As some of you may know, the lovely Corinne at the EndParalysis Foundation (endparalysis.org) entered a Dutch competition to win 50k eur. If she wins, all of the money will go directly to one of the labs working on Chondroitinase. (There's loads of additional info on the Foundation website).

Just so you all know that Corinne is not some shady fraudster, here she is collecting her Cure Warrior Advocate award from U2FP's Marilyn:

So, to win the 50k we need votes. To vote, all you have to do is 'like' this video. (It's in Dutch).
    https://www.facebook.com/60087752671...4032397394733/

We currently have nearly 2600 likes/votes but we need more to ensure we win the 50k.

Please take a second and 'like' the video and ask your friends, families, co-workers etc etc to do the same. The competition closes in a week and I'll be updating this thread daily until then to let you all know how the votes are coming along. There are two other contenders and it's tight!

    Remember: 1 'like' = 1 vote

Mods - please allow this post to stay in the Cure forum. Ch'ase has such exciting potential and it would be such a shame if this great funding opportunity didn't get the publicity it deserves.

    Many thanks,
    Ruth.

Awesome! Will try and send the link to friends and family - just to be sure, we literally hit the like button on the facebook video, right? Too easy! Takes a second people, get liking!

Thanks for 'liking'/voting! Yes, that's right: to vote, simply like the video. We're nearly at 2600 likes.

We're in the lead by an extra 200 'likes'. Thanks so much to everyone on CC who has voted.

With 6 days to go, we can't be complacent. Please share the link with all of your contacts and ask them to 'like' the video.

Here's the link to the video - https://www.facebook.com/60087752671...4032397394733/

        Remember - each 'like' = 1 vote

        Many thanks

At the moment we have 2985 likes, our closest contender has 2787. We are in the lead by extra 198 likes.

We can win but we have to keep working on it otherwise they can easily overtake us!

4.5 days to go, we can win like by like... life has become a game of likes, the likes we need are all around us, every FB friend is a like, every friend of a friend is a like..

            Argh.....we might be in trouble!

Recap: Corinne's foundation, the EndParalysis Foundation entered a competition to win 50K (eur) towards curing SCI. To win the competition, the video she made needs to receive the most likes on FB. Likes = votes. There are three finalists, and on this coming Tuesday, the video with the most likes wins the 50K.

The EndParalysis Foundation currently has 3124 likes/votes and is in the lead. However, close behind is another of the finalists with 2971 likes/votes.

To those who have already votes; thank you! To anyone who hasn't - please follow this link and simply like the video:

We still need help to win as the competitors are getting likes fast, is there anything more you could do to help? Maybe invite FB friends to the event below? If you have time what works best seems to be to ask people via PM...
We have about 36 hours before the competition ends...

                Bad news!
With less than 24hrs to go, we've slipped into 2nd place. We're currently 130 'likes' behind.
CareCure Community - we desperately need your help.
To win, we need 'likes' for this video on FB:https://www.facebook.com/60087752671...4032397394733/

Please, if you haven't already, simply 'like' the video and ask all your friends to do so too. 50,000 euros would be great to put towards the fight to cure paralysis.

                Thank you!

This competition if you don't mind me saying is a bit stupid. Whoever is making this donation could've just donate without having to go through a Facebook like competition. It shouldn't be that hard to realize this money is for an important cause. Let's say the others get more Facebook likes and win the competition, that doesn't make finding a treatment for SCI less important...it's Facebook, and most people are completely ignorant regarding SCI.

Our competitor has been getting likes like crazy today, now we have 5221 and they are up at 9422.. we were ahead of about 200 likes 15 hours ago.

They might be using a trick like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCBMXPvzYqc

                        Dear Carecure friends,
I would like to thank everybody who has Liked our video and everybody who helped us go so far in the "Medical Inspiration" competition. Thanks to the persons who have started this thread as well as those who have tried to keep it alive and get as many votes as possible from the Carecure community. The final and official winner was revealed today. The sudden and massive 6000-7000 extra Likes received by our competitor during the last few hours made it impossible for us to come back to score, even though we started the day in the front position. We end up second, even after including very favorable jury votes.

There was a remark in this thread about how "stupid" this competition was: I understand this remark. Basing something as crucial as SCI research on Facebook Likes is indeed a bit strange if not shocking. For me, chasing Facebook Likes for 2 full months was not the most fun thing I had to do, but I felt I had to do it because there was 50Keuro at stake. And again, 50K euro/usd is peanuts compared to what we need to cure SCI, but it would have been a start. We also did huge work before the Facebook part of the competition. So it was not just some kind of lottery (or at least should not have been). We made a very solid application and went through 2 rounds of selection to be able to reach the finals (which included the Facebook votes for 50%, and a jury vote for the remaining 50%). This was tough work all along, starting in March 2015 already! On the positive side, it was a great opportunity for the endParalysis foundation to work with researchers and fight for a common goal. And it was a great opportunity to raise awareness for our cause. As such, that competition was good because it was both cure-driven and patient-inclusive, which does not happen so often.

Thanks again to all of you who have supported us in this!
                        Corinne
