      It's not just you.

I think it's a great physical therapy tool, but claims that it restores independence is hyperbole, to say the least.

lunascic, you/re right in that it is an advancement in technology and not a real cure. We all know that. the ultimate goal is for the treatment sto offer our boidy;s to function better and more like before. the advancement shown should be taken lightly. As can be seen the lady is up for the first time in 18 years. We all have the smae wish; that advnacement in treatment will return natural acitivites to us all. I believe it is coming.

                What a stupid thing...

That just helps people to think that we only want to walk... if you can even say that's walking!

And why would she say that's her dream? What a way to mislead people, thank you idiots.
Don't ask what clinical trials can do for you, ask what you can do for clinical trials.

Im a bit sceptical about her also. She is the Geeta Shroff posterchild. For her to be demonstrating this product and claim it is a "dream come true" for her just adds to her lack of credibility and of course the credibility of this product itself.

It will be used many to speed up the recovery for incomplete paras in large PT facilities that can afford it. It is not for home use, it is not a cure, but when one comes, you will all have to use a machine like this to relearn how to walk again. With the cure no person will be able to stand up and walk right out of the hospital. That is just silly. You will need several years of PT to get back to where you where before your injury.
Your muscles are atrophied and will need a lot of PT exercise to support your body before you can even stand up.

I dont think this will be used as a PT aid. It is purely a novelty item for media "wow" factor. I would be surprised if they sell more than 1000 units to SCI.

However, it could be massively useful for amputees.

PT choices will always be devices like Lokomat, weight-ambulated or underwater treadmills for gait training which take less toll on the upper extremeties.

I can see it as a PT aid, especially once regenerative therapies make it past clinical trials. After initial training, someone could use this by themselves, thus using fewer therapists. I think if costs could get below $10,000, they would sell plenty. I would much rather use one of those than an evolve glider. I think it would be great to do therapy and exercise outside than being stuck inside in one spot.

I think it would be great for young people and a great band-aid solution for now ... there's going to be a long wait for any kind of regenerative therapy.

In fact, I think I'll be gone by then.
