While stuck in bed 24\7 I am also stuck with my 8" Android tablet. Entering text with a stylus is not fun . I was very disappointed to find that there is no voice recognition app for Android. Ironically, Alexa is on here but does not function as a speech to text app. She does a great job spelling out the words when I talk to her. That really sucks. Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?I have had periodic paralysis all my life. I lost my ability to walk in 2011 beginning with a spinal block, which was used for a hip fracture caused by periodic paralysis.

I would look at trying an older version iPad. Though I am not a Apple fan its hard to beat there features and functions.
Apple has a new launch Monday so older models lower in price.

Android has several voice to text apps. the Gboard keyboard has a microphone on it. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...latin&hl=en_US) Google assistant will send texts for you and set appointments in the calendar. New Google Transcribe app will translate a voice almost instantly and in listens for 2 selected languages, plus then it can translate them into your language. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...cribe&hl=en_US) More and more Google assistant will open the apps by voice also but there's always a place or two where you have to tap the screen. Google also has an Accessibility group where you work with developers and view conversations of others that might share share a specific issue with you https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/accessible. We also use google minis around the house for voice recognition. Heres an good article on using Google Docs (free) and voice. https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/google...-productivity/
If you have an older tablet, some of these may not be available , but a comparable size android tablet will cost less than a Apple one. I have a Lenovo one that has served me very well without lots of trash and also alows for using the Sd slot for expanded storage ( some vendors don't allow this for app storage.)Last edited by MrMarkin281; 17 Sep 2019, 9:48 AM.
