  • environmental control unit?voice-activated

I'm not sure if this is the proper placement for this post, but I'm looking for input. I'm using a voice controlled environmental control system by Tash (sicare pilot). From what I'm understanding, it is not even available to purchase anymore. I would appreciate any input someone could provide me with what they are using to mainly control TV, lights, possibly bed, and fan. I would want it to be 100% voice-activated and preferably independent of the computer. Thank you in advance.

The Amazon Echo, when used with smart switches and plugs can control a multitude of devices.

Lots of ECU manufacturers have gone out of business in the last few years, and others have discontinued their products. Voice activated systems are few and far between.

A search on AbleData.com will show you a few that are available.

I have a Harmony Hub in my living room. Using voice commands with the Amazon Echo in my living room I can turn the living room TV on, off or mute, as well as turning on my Roku player going to Netflix, HBO, Showtime, etc. I can also turn on my AVR by voice, as well as my DVD player.

I've been using a Quartet ECU for 25 years. It's still running strong. I can control my tv, cable box, phone lights, door openers, thermostat etc.

Wow make life much more simple and a lot less costly...by pass all the extra cost and simply do it from your cell phone with Apple Home or Android phones with products like Nest for your heat and AC, light switches, ceiling fans etc. We have added a wemo switch because my Wife forgets to unplug her curlers so we can check when we are away from home and just turn them off.

We also use it to control are TV, we have cameras so we can keep an eye on our home, open the garage and the list keep going.

Very simple to set up and a lot more cost effective as technology grows!

Amazon Echo is totally hands free... however if you have a mouth stylus, you could control a phone or tablet. I have a tablet that I can work with my homemade mouthstick stylus.

First, you will need to find which devices work with the Amazon Echo. The Logitech Harmony Hub will work with the Echo via voice commands. However, I think you will need a smart phone or a tablet to set everything up. Click HERE. When I have time I will make a YouTube video on what needs to be done to get Alexa to work with the Harmony Hub.

I'm a Quad C3/4 on a vent. I've used a Quartet ECU w/voice control for 21 years. It's starting too mess up a lot I mainly only use it for TV and Directv control. Anybody have any ideas for something else that is a lot less expensive than trying too replace my ECU?

I'm very intimidated by technology. I did not feel confident enough to rely on a system that is fueled by Wi-Fi I chose a system that runs independently, without any Internet/Wi-Fi influence. You potentially could use some of the equipment that you already have. Here is a website for you to look at:

They have very good customer support.

I would look at the Amazon Echo Plus. Amazon Prime members can pre-order now. The item will be released on October 31, 2017. Priced at $149, it should not break the bank!

I, also, am intimidated by technology. I am ashamed to admit that I barely know how to use anything. One thing I do know is that I can't afford these environmental control units. Looks like my only choice will be to go with Amazon or something. I wonder if Amazon Echo works with Comcast/Xfinity, and can just turn a radio on and off.
