  • Windows 7 keeps losing Plantronics CS 50 mic

Since I upgraded to Windows 7 from XP, my microphone is constantly being lost by Windows 7 after reboots and restarts after the computer is off. Occasionally, it isn't lost, but this shouldn't be happening. It was never lost in XP. We've tried plugging it into different USB ports, both in the computer and in my powered USB hub, with no difference in any place. Right now, it's in the hub, because it's easier to unplug it and plug it back in to let Windows rediscover it. Is there anything we can do to ensure that it doesn't get lost?

    Thanks for any help,
    Alan

Same computer? If not, suspect the cable first. If it is the same computer, see if there is an updated driver at the microphone's web site.

Alan, you have gone through the Microphone Setup Wizard in Windows 7? In the past, Plantronics had free technical support for their headsets/products.

I just tried the setup wizard. We'll see what happens.

The earpiece still gets lost sometimes.

It occasionally happens to me when I'm using Dragon Dictate on my iMac. I have to go through Preferences to audio setup. Not a problem on Windows using Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
