i have a program that states to update my Ethernet driver and ide drivers. their 3 and 5 years out dated. i like the saying if it ain't broke don't fix it. but will i get better performance and will it be safe to do this. of course i have all ways updated my video driver and others but ide controllers sounds risky.

Well, the general info I found on google (CNET, and others) implies this is okay...but...there has to be a catch. I'd suggest you go to the web site of your computer's manufacturer and see if you can get updated drivers there. It may be a little hardstall to install them from there, but, it will certainly be safer.

~Under Windows if you install drivers and they do not work you can revert back to the previous versions. Just go to the device manager, click the driver that didn't work and you will see an option to roll back to previous version.
