Vista 32 bit upgrade to Windows 8 64 bit

Hi guys, is there any way to upgrade Vista 32 bit to Windows 8 64 bit OS? I bought the DVD discs but the upgrade assistant only says I can upgrade 32 bit to 32 bit and 64 bit to 64 bit.

Is there any solution to upgrade 32 bit vista to 64 bit windows 8?

I don't think so but if you could get a preview release of win 8 64 bit and install it, you will be able to upgrade from there to your paid version. here is one place u can download it quickly, 3.3GB...

32 to 64 can't be done. It's better to do a clean install anyway.

Is your computer 64-bit? Do you have enough RAM (over 3.2 GB)to benefit from the upgrade.

When switching to a new operating system I would never upgrade, but instead backup important files like music, documents, etc. and do a clean install. Things seem to work much better that way.

Better than if you tried to migrate Microsoft that is.

I have always used scorched earth with any Microsoft problem.

Windows 8 is not fit for purpose and people are returning their defective devices. /forum/showthread.php?t=212333

You would be even better off not upgrading. Windows 8 is dead. Try VISTA -> Windows 7. If its old or unsupported hardware then 32-bit. If you are game try Windows 7 64-bit. XP may be a better "upgrade"? GNU/Linux is better still.

Apple migration assistant is better and has never let me down completely. Debian apt-get dist-upgrade is the best binary upgrade. Doing the BSD like things with source also works. Both Fink and Ports on my Mac have had many updates.

In Australia defence are still using XP. Has many vulnerabilities, but as they are now known and XP is becoming stable they can be mitigated if organisation has sufficient resources. Being Microsoft Windows they are probably still public access machines with the Chinese PLA inside. I have seen tunneling via UUCP email involving the RAN. Microsoft Outlook would forward data.

Windows should die. I think Windows 8 will do it.
