Legal questioning about minimum wage in Florida.

My mother is my caretaker. She gets paid for 12 hours a day. 5 hours of pay are what she was making while working as a bus driver and the other 7 hours are minimum wage. Minimum wage has increased the past year and she is still receiving what it was before the increase. She contacted the people who pay her (my adjustor) and she said my mom would not receive an increase because it was a Florida increase not a national increase. Does anybody know if this is true or where I can find out? Any information is appreciated. Thank you, Chuck

Yes, I believe that this is true. In Indiana, the state minimum wage is the same as the national minimum wage which is $5.15 I believe. In FL, it looks like the state minimum wage is higher than the national. I saw $6.67 on the site I checked. Check out this site for more information. This site lists every state and how its minimum wage compares to the national minimum wage.

If she is not making $6.67 an hour for her other seven hours then they are violating the labor law.

I hope this helps. The raise in minimum wage was federal.

It seems some states are different amounts.

She is making 5.15 an hour. So since Florida's minimum wage is higher than the national minimum wage she should be making 6.67 an hour. I believe she needs to contact a lawyer. I told her they (my insurance adjuster) is only looking after themselves. Thank you for your replies.
