    1 year anniversary

1 year yesterday (May 28th)... Don fell 30 feet from a ladder while trimming a tree in our back yard.... We went to a party yesterday to celebrate life yesterday.

Don has come a long way! When he first came home from rehab.... wellllll it was ugly... but now he is self-sufficient... he is healthy. He went back to work at Lockheed-Martin in November 2005. He was 60 years old when he was injured so the fact that he went back to work is pretty impressive.

He is in the process of having friends help him build a bridge into the veggie garden so he can take of the garden... what a guy!

    We count our blessings...

Thanks to all on this list who have been there to give support and answer my questions!

Congrats on the 1 year progress! My grandfather was a farmer. When he left the midwest and lived in California with a "regular" job, he always had a big garden in his yard. When he got older and was in a wheelchair we put in a lot of raised beds for him to garden in. It truly was a joy for him.

me and my brother bought a 150 acre farm in nicaragua last year, i cannot wait to get back to my garden, everything grows there so well, including pests. the problem for me is the hour long hike thru the jungle to get to it. i need an ox-cart i guess,

Aww yes ... celebrate life ... Bill is almost 60 now as well .. he was injured T5 eight years ago this past May. I feel age plays a significant factor with coping and the adjustment to this sci life .. getting that first year under your belt is the first step of many on what can be an arduous journey as we all know. Its so wonderful Don has been able to return to work .. I believe that is huge in a persons "recovery" . Although my Bill has had too many health issues to do the same we take one day at a time counting our blessings too. I'm glad you chose to celebrate the life you now have together and I hope you continue to garner the strength you will need to face whatever the future holds for you both !

awesome, Sieg! Glad to hear you and Don are doing so well! Yes, the first year is quite rough, and sometimes I wondered if I would ever make it!!

I like the raised bed idea, I might have to do that so I can garden too.
