  • Back Strength exercises?

Anyone know of either good exercises to promote good back strength for the caregiver or a good website for this?
    Thank you

There are no exercises that will allow you to move or lift more than what is safe. OSHA says for safe patient handling and movement that this is limited to lifting/moving no more than 35 lb. (50 lb. for an inanimate object with handles such as a box). If you are doing more than that, you are lifting/moving too much, and no amount of strengthening will prevent the cummulative musculoskeletal injuries that can occur.

The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.
