another bladder question

Hi, I'm kind of new here, never posted before... I'm a C-6 incomplete
quad. Well, my question is : Is vitamin C effective to prevent
urinary infection ? Some people say that it is good, but on the
other hand, vitamin C taken for long periods can demage the liver. Is
that true ? If it is, is there anything that can really help on
preventing uti's ? I'm really tired of having it... Thanks, I appreciate
any help...

UTI's, Vitamin C, and Cranberry Juice

Babbie -- Many folks swear by cranberry juice or tablets to help in preventing a UTI. It works by keeping the urine acidic to prevent bacteria formation.

The best things to do to prevent a UTI are to drink plenty of fluids (preferrably water), catheterize at regular intervals or keep your bladder empty as much as possible, and have periodic urinary health checkups.

Vitamin C also makes the urine acidic. It is best to get it naturally in citrus fruits and vegetables. It is metabolized by the liver and I am not certain of the long term effects when it is taken in large doses over long periods of time.
