Anyone have the Lipo gem surgery done for shoulder issues

    Hi
After 20 years in a chair my right shoulder is ready to give up the ghost. As such I am looking for alternative ways to remedy the problem. Has anyone out here ever had the Lipo Gem surgery to fix this issue? If so I would love to hear back from anyone who has had the procedure done.

    Thanks in advance
    Nevada

This may be helpful if your problem is degenerative arthritis, but not if you have a partial or full rotator cuff tear. Are you seeing an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in shoulder problems? (KLD)
The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.

Yes and he wanted to do a reverse shoulder replacement due to no Cartlidge left. I am more concerned about having my arms back in a few days vs almost a year.

        Hello Nevada,
I think we wrote about our shoulders 3 or 4 years ago, and I still have not taken the scary steps for surgery; however the head guy at UTSW - Dr. Khazzam says I would destroy a total or reverse shoulder in short time span. He recommended pyrocarbon hemiarthroplasty- only replace head of humerus. FDA recently approved it, but the huge downside is non weight bearing for 3 months he said.
Also, like a true orthopedic surgeon, he said i could do everything with just my other arm for that time.
        Just another option to consider.
        Good luck.

          Hello again Nevada,
Regarding lipo gem, in TX its promoted as QC kinetix by none other than Emmitt Smith. I asked an experienced ortho PT professor whre I work, and she told me those treatments work about 50% of time for minor tears, but for advanced OA, it would be a waste of time and lot of money.

Thank you for the information regarding Lipo Gem surgery for shoulder issues. I am still riding the fence so to speak about having it done.

I have had both shoulders completed. I had one at Kessler in west orange, NJ. It was a clinical study by Trevor Dyson Hudson M.D. and the second was in Fort Myers Florida by Dr. Eichten by orthopedic specialist . Feel free to call or email if you have questions. 570-575-9053 or joemonte155@gmail.com.

What problem was the Lipo gem supposed to address? How successful was the treatment(s)? Thanks

I had torn rotators , arthritis and joint issues. It was a 100% success for me. The key is strength training to gain mobility back. I wheeled out of the procedure with soreness for a couple weeks then started training. Shoulder is still 100% after five plus years after Kesslers clinical trial. I haven't had any shots in the right one that Kessler did. My left is a different story. It's still tore up and this paid procedure didn't work and I still get cortisone injections every three months.

Thanks for the information regarding the trial I only wished I lived closer as the trips from ND to NJ would be a deal breaker so to speak
