that's great insight, and I think you might be right. I'm puzzled abt 2 things...

my bowel routine is done before bed, every other night and last Friday the discharge was pretty severe but Thursday night was an "off" night. Do you think that could have been a delayed reaction?

Also, the excessive bladder leakage that accompanies the bowel leakage-could it be that because the 2 are so close together that the contractions trigger the bladder to react?

Sounds like what some call "butt snot" or "afterburn". It is hard on your skin. It usually indicates that the product being used for bowel care is too harsh. Can you try using Enemeez instead of the Fleets? How much dig stim do you do?

we do a fleet-ish enema 4x a week, almost always w/good results. very seldom do I have any accidents (unless you count these contractions, which leave a very, very faint brownish tint on my pad).

Are you having good results with bowel care? Mucous can be produced if you are impacted, or if you are using too strong of a suppository. Have you tried a different one (Glycerine, Enemeez)?

How do you manage your bladder?

I didn't explain that very well..what I meant was: I soak my leakage pad worn during the day (and usually my seat) when this happens, I smell very foul, and there is not much urine in my bedside bag, meaning I'm soaked w/urine as well.

You mean liquid stools. Are you getting good results with your bowel program? No constipation or inaction? Eating any new or different food? CWO

Strange GI “issues!” Help, SCI nurse?

I’ve been having what feels like contractions causing gas w/diarrhea but is actually an almost clear discharge. It gives my urine a very foul odor. (for some reason, the symptoms don’t usually start until the afternoon). What is causing this, and how can I prevent it from happening?
