New SCI Resource for your Primary Care Provider

As we have discussed before, few members or people with SCI/D have a primary care provider who is an expert or even at all knowledgeable about SCI care.

ASIA (The American Spinal Injury Association) and ASCIP (The Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals) have developed a resource site for such providers. I would encourage you all to ask your primary care provider to go to this page and learn more about what the needs of the person with spinal cord injury/disease may need as special considerations and concerns when providing care:

The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.
