wound getting worse

my mom's wound seems to be getting worse.


the wound care nurse has us using iodosorb then covering it with mesorb dressing.

after a day the mesorb it soaked and the white stuff has spread and is thicker.

any ideas what to use????

this wound looks like it needs a good Debridement. it should be seen by a doctor specializing in wound care each week until healed. pics and measurements should also be taken each week along with the Debridement.

saw a wound specialist today did a debridement and put hydrofera blue classic on top then another dressing.

we will see.

The wound appears to be getting macerated from drainage. This usually calls for a more absorbent dressing, and looking for a cause of the drainage. If infection is suspected, some MDs would consider using a course of oral antibiotics. I would consider using an absorbent, silver iimpregnated dressing at this point.

Santyl cream to debris it and create a clean wound bed, maybe?

You need to be followed by a plastic surgeon or wound care nurse on a consistent basis. That wound needs a lot of care. Given that I did not see it nor did I assess it, I don't feel comfortable making any suggestions on products. I will tell you that your MOm should NOT be sitting on it, should stay well hydrated and increasing her nutritional intake may help some. Make sure she is getting protein in her diet. Healing will come slowly so don't change the dressing routine without speaking to your primary wound care person.

so this is what it looks like now.
as i stated earlier wound care nurse debrided the wound
then put on hydrafera blue classic covered with mesorb.
tape covering the mesorb was opsite flexifix

then after 24hrs changed from mesorb to biatain silicone
using opsite flexifix only on the border of the biatain.

Where is the wound? What is your Mom doing for positioning? Is she in bed with all pressure off of this wound? With this kind of wound, she just can't have ANY pressure on the area.

Can you show us a picture of the wound from further out so we have an idea of the location of this wound?

she is in bed pressure is off the wound.

The ischial, or commonly known as sit bones. This is probably the most common area on the backside people develop pressure sores. She's going to have to completely re-evaluate her seating when she eventually gets up to prevent this happening again. If she uses a power wheelchair then I would seriously look into getting a wheelchair that allows her to carry out pressure tilts independently.

Tending a wound as I type. Bandaid makes a dressing that stays on for 4-5 days and uses your own bodies fluid to heal. Say it makes a "blister" THE BEST I've ever tried 10-1.
They work !! Would have that wound healed in 8 days I'm willing to bet. Good luck. Hate laying here doing nothing !!!
