Any suggestions for a supra pubic catheter that is "clogging"?

    Hi,
I have used a SPC for three years.
    MS
Now it is "clogging" and I am terrified I will have to go to "straight catherization".
I am 74 and unable to do this.
    Thank you for reading.

What kind of catheter are you using?

How much are you drinking daily?

How often is it clogging? Can you irrigate the catheter to clear blockage when it occurs?

Have you spoken to your urologist about this?

    Have you tried Renacidin instillation?

(a more complete profile makes it much easier to respond to such questions)

You might consider changing catheters. The Poiesis Duette catheter (http://www.poiesismedical.com/products/duette/). This is a silicone catheter with two balloons and the drainage eyelets between the balloons. It is less irritating to the bladder. Contact the company through the website and they will send you free samples.

Some of us use HydroCleanse or MicrocynAH, See:

      http:///forum/showthread.php?250249-...ght=MicrocynAH

There are more discussions if you search Care Cure Community for "HydroCleanse" and "MicrocynAH."

My docs put me on several vitamin supplements recently that created ridiculous amounts of sediment and clogging of my SPC. I switched to the duette cath as suggested above and, along with the irrigation routine, also recommended above (although I use a Neosporin flush instead), and have found the combination to be a life saver. You still have to push the water, of course, but My bladder is currently functioning better than it has since I had this thing installed. Knock on wood...

Is there any way to get the Duette Catheter in Canada? I've contacted the company several times & they just say they're planning to distribute to other countries soon.

On line medical supply stores sell Duette catheters, if you find one that ships to Canada. Otherwise, if you know someone who lives in the United State, they might be able to order it and then ship it to you.

That's what I figured, out of luck so far on both counts. I'll keep looking.
