Monday, I had a hemorrhoidectomy*and the doctor said I need to do a sitz bath for 10-15 minute sessions 5x a day for 7 days. Is this absolutely necessary? Since I am a C6 incomplete sensory quad (14 years) and can not do the bath, I've been transferring to my shower chair and using my shower hose to place warm water in that area, but doing this is quite tiresome and I don't see how it is helping my healing process.*
It is better to do something than to do nothing while waiting to do everything.

It helps to clean the area out and also to get the blood flowing. i would think that you could accomplish the same thing by applying warm moist towels. DO NOT use a heating pad!!!!
