Anybody know if insurance pays for botox bladder injections?

I had my annual "How's it hanging?" visit to the Urologist yesterday and he said Medicare had just recently approved reimbursement of Botox injections for treating neurogenic bladder spasticity.

I had 4 rounds of Botox injections 2006-2009. At the time, I had HMO insurance through the company for whom I worked. In order to get the Botox (no urologist in the group was qualified to do bladder Botox), I had to get authorization to go out of network. After all the paperwork was completed and the authorization was approved, the HMO paid for everything.

          All the best,

The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.
