My special trick for using enemeez

For some of us, getting the Enemeez liquid up far enough to be successful can be quite a challenge, especially if you are trying to administer it while on the shower/commode chair.
Here is my trick in getting it far enough "up there".

First, you will need 4 items: 1 Enemeez, 1 small paper cup (I get mine at Costco) or some other small container, scissors, 1 small "puppy" feeding syringe (I got mine from Pet Co, or go on petco.com it's item # 144103 they have 2 available, this one is the smallest).

Now, empty the Enemeez into the small cup, suck up the liquid into the syringe making sure to get rid of the extra air so that all you see is liquid in the syringe. Next, cut off the bottom of the Enemeez tube where it is "crimped". Take the Enemeez tube and slip it over the syringe. Lube the Enemeez tube and insert. You may want to try it first with water so that you can see just how far this thing will shoot! Believe me, there will be no second guessing whether or not you got it far enough up there!

My son's body took to the Enemeez right away. He went from 1 1/2 - 4 hours for his BP to 30 minutes. It really has changed our lives. We had a good run with the Magic Bullets, but they stopped working. Good luck and please post and let us know how it works for you.

GL, you don't use any other aide in your BP? No Enemeez, Magic Bullets? That's awesome if you don't need any additional help!

Mombo-That is a very clever idea. When we tried Enemeeze in rehab and again at home it was a problem getting it in. We also use a (large quad) commode shower chair. For hubby it was not as effective as MB.

            Hi Mombo
It sometimes could be botehrsome for me because of my injry level / damage so so
In the hospital . Nursing facility I had a habit of drinking a little can of prune juice at breakfast and it worked pretty fast especially if I sipped some warm coffee or warm tea .

I tried the magic bullet supositories but because I have bent up fingers / bad hand cramps I am limited and dont like other people messing with my rectum .

I try to keep my diet soft , Activia / or yoplait yougurt seems to be helpful to in my case I usually have soups for dinner or lunch
my neck was crushed from the front in the accident , they cut my throat and I sometimes have a very hard with solids .
All these years later and I hope some of my advice may help someone else
This is what Care Cure is about

            Thank you
            Sincerely ; GL

I've wanted to try Enemeez. Had it sent to me twice. But couldn't get it to work. Is it the same ingrediantes as MB? Also what's different in the way it works? MB works with alot of stemming.
Mombo I'm slow but I don't understand your method above. A regular syringe won't work?

                enemeez

The ingredients of enemeez is liquid stool softener (docusate). Enemeez has changed the lives of many SCI patients for the better in making a bowel program more efficient.

Mombo's original posting is quite creative at administering the enemeez. Mombo may do well to contact the company/vendor who manufactures Enemeez on his administrative technique. That idea would benefit patients who don't have the hand dexterity to self-administer the Enemeez. I have contacted the sales rep and provided that feedback before in the past.

The last thing to mention, is that before any rectal medication is administered for a bowel program, a digital exam should be done to remove any stool in the vault first. When administering a suppository or enemeez it should be lubricated well and inserted along the rectal wall, then administered.

The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.

SCI Nurse so the ingrediantes is the exact same thing. But you don't have to wait for the enemeez to melt. Is that why it goes faster?

Mombo I understand your method now. The syring is for shutting it up higher. Assuming now, the higher you can get it is better?

Is a 10 cc human syring too big to use? How far does the syring go up?

I was wondering trying to use what I have now. What if you used a catheter & a syring? Cut the catheter (part that attaches to drainage bag) the length of your finger (the length you want the enemeez to go up the rectum.) Suck up the enemeez into the syring. Attach the syring to the catheter at the cut end where it usually attaches to the draining bag. Insert the catheter tip that usually goes in the bladder up the rectum and empty the enemeez in the syring into the rectum through the catheter.

Would that work. I would love for this to go faster.

Also do you use the whole tube?

Danger=never use mineral oil and DSS /Docusate Sodium /colace /stool softener

i noticed this posting and a couple of us have used the catherer tube with enemeez chase by water to push the enemeez up into the vault.
I have used enemeez for years and i couple things i have noticed , if you move a lot afterwards and there is left over active enemeez, there will be a second movement, same as when a magic bulet work again 2 hours after the first movement, this is usually a big problem if you have left your home and acessable or in my casem any bathrooms that are clean enough to take a seat or even have a seat .

i use a full lenth catheter and i find the outlet cone fits perfect onthe irrigation syringe, i use a30cc or 500 cc usally, i test the amount of water in takes to push the enemeez solution totally out of the tube. It may take 20cc depending on lenthth of cath tube. The trick, is to try and get thesolution next to thelining of the rectum vault above the mass if possible ,sonetimes it is so full you cant get above it and you may need 3 or more applications. I have at least, especially if the matter is dried out. Also there will be full colon behind the rectal vault, so no mater what you do, more will come out.
Once you get it out , you need maintenance, like mirlax cap once a day or more , or 1/2 cap miralax if a full cap is too much.
If the stoll os too dry, even the enemeez will not work well, that is when 3 or more implants is unnecessary. if you get it high enough it will atleast do something to loosen it up, but too often you only get the enemeez fluid out, it is so dry it wont absord the enemeez.
It takes a while, and usually better iy you get off the toilet and on your left side and lay there until it works, it is much more comfortable,or on a longer shower chair in bathtub so no worry if leakage.
I've been in this position a lot of time s and it may take a week to clear enough of an tunnel to get my bladder back again too.
DSS= Docusate Sodium also known as colace or OTC stool softener that is taken orally. The DSS cuses the mineral oil to be absorbed through the lining of the colon, and is dangerous, this warning is on many mineral oil fleet enemas.
I stopped taking any mineral oil once i realized it is petrol, a by product of the making of gasoline. It is expensive to dispose of ,but they can sell it and make a profir rather than pay for hazordos material disposal. Baby oil is alsi mineral oil with a perfume, i wouldnever use it on a human, especially a baby.
Peanut oil enemas are hard to find in the USA, but overseas are used rather then mineral oil. You can make your own very cheaply, Costco has 5 gallons of boxes of peanut oil for cheap compared to the fleet enemaa. It is easy to make your own, with a 60 cc irrigation cyring with a luer lock connector and most iportanty a one way valve, as i found out the hard way. Also a shut off valve is good for filling the syringe aand keeping it filled without leakage.
Amazon has the aprts n the industrial and scientific section.

Best solution is to find the plans on carecure for a homemade pie system that is made with outboard gasoline type pumps and plastic tubing clamps clamps on the vinyl tubing to make it, height of the solution is important, as too high will cause too high a pressure, also adding salt to the water to keep the solution at the bodys sale composition will reduces osmosis through the colon, which can cause medical conditions. i also make a homemade electrolyte or use pedialite to ensure a good balance.
Still thinking about the Mace since my bathroom is too small, tomorrow i may try another way of a laying down for the PIE.

I found this new stuff in costco that i think is fabulous and much better than ground flax seeds, it is called Chia or close, blackish granules that can be mixed with yogurt smoothies, pudding etc, in my opinion works great, and doesn't have that flax-seed constantly having to empty. worth a try, i need to get more next week so will find the real name if no one else has it.
I have dealt with this way too many times , and even this weekend i have to take action, if you have help the home made PIE is the best , one of the guys here is a mechanical engineer and designed it, and tested the pressures to insure the safety. The height of the water supply bag is the critical part. a shower bad that can be bought for under 20 bucks and holds over 5 gallons with a temperature device visible on the outside is part of the solutions.
