    Do I have the H1N1?

I started feeling like someone was playing soccer on my chest this past Thursday, but I've gone downhill since yesterday....

    My body is very achey..
My head is about to burst...
    I have chills almost continuously..
Mild fever right now of 101.7...
I keep coughing (or trying to)...
Mildly sore throat (from coughing I think)...
I'm dizzy and get nauseous (from coughing I think)...

My Mother has bronchitis, so I thought I catched a cold from her, but now I'm not so sure...

CDC says those with SCI should seek med care, but unless it is absolutely necessary, I HATE going to the ER...

Can one of the nurses shine some light please?

I'm not a nurse, but I did have H1N1 a couple weeks ago [according to my doctor].

The symptoms came on very quickly, and sound quite similar to yours. The main difference was that my temperature went over 104 from time to time for about 36 hours. My doctor gave me Tamiflu which helped a lot. After staying in bed for about five days, I felt almost completely normal.

I would agree that there is no need to go to the hospital unless you have a lot of difficulty breathing.

Get care NOW! You can take a turn for the worst quickly.

I hear only a blood test can tell the difference between the 'regular flu" and the H1N1, but either one can be serious.

My bout with A-H1N1 was identical to yours except I did not have the dizzy aspect. You very likely have it.

Hey, P. Get yourself to the doc. I only wish I had earlier than I did when I was sick. I became more ill and got a secondary infection trying to avoid the doctor.

Hope you are much better soon.

My son is just getting over the H1N1. Here is what the doc said: Since he had his seasonal flu shot, we know it's not that and the only other flu going around right now is the H1N1. The symptoms were exactly what you are describing. Luckily, his doc gave us 4 doses of Tamiflu "just in case". Soooo, he came down with it on a Fri nite and those doses came in handy since it was the weekend. Got more Tamiflu on Monday and he got over the fever and aches really quick - a little over 24 hours. Now he has just been really tired and has the cough. Good luck!

Hi everyone, thanks for the replies!

I went to an Urgent Care Center yesterday as the fever would not go down & my mom was panicking... (last time I had a fever was 1989).

They took chest x-rays and lungs are good... My BP dropped to 74/35 so I had to stay 2 more hrs on a silly annoying IV... They drew some blood, but they were only going to check my blood count (if they didn't cancel that) as the Dr. said I have bronchitis...

I don't think it's H1N1 as now I have a runny nose too... Either way, I just started the Z pack, so hopefully them antibiotics will help.. I don't have much voice left, so had to call in sick today HOPING not to have problems with work too.

Take care everyone & thanks for the replies.

The advice that is given here for all employees (meaning healthcare workers or others) is to STAY HOME for at least 24 hours after the fever breaks. You are not doing your co-workers any good by going to work sick (not to mention that it usually prolongs the misery). When you begin to feel up to working, you will know.

The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.

                    it is real?

I am from Romania, and Turkey is one step away from us. I heard that there are over 100 dead people because of this virus. I don't think that it exists, it's just a public manipulation. In Romania they say there are 2 people dead..for now, and one of them died for different causes.
                    What about me?...
