    Nurse,Sweating, one side only

in the groin. Where the left testicle touches my inner thigh. It stays moist/damp at all times. If I don't keep the area dry and use AF powder 4 or 5 times a day it goes to the dreaded jock-itch within 48 hrs or so. I have sensation there and can feel burning/irritation when it's damp. My Uro checks me every year and can't find any cause, taken culture's for fungus, doplar, x-rays etc. He assures me the testicle is in good shape. Now with that said, background

This started about 5 or so yrs ago right after finishing supported weight treadmill work. Pt's were stuffing towels in the harness for padding, when I got up I told them I felt pain in my groin and then severe AD. That testi got smushed as well.

Any idea's ? nerve damage in groin from trauma, and if so
can a nerve be severed to stop the sweating like they do for excessive armpit sweating ?

I haven't asked my uro this cause I just thought of it lol.

I get somewhat the same thing, sweating on one side. Usually when I'm starting to AD or my body is uncomfortable, the left side of my face will sweat. It's annoying with only one side, but at least it's easier to dry. I'm higher level injury than you though and don't have much feeling below my neck, so can't help with further down.

Quads or paras normally don't sweat below the injury so if it's damp it's because it's an injury/wound. I would use a cotton ball to keep the skin from coming into contact with other skin. You might need to stay off of it for a few days if the cotton doesn't work without staying off it.

Some people actually sweat excessively below their level of injury. If you have a different sweating pattern now, and don't think you are having AD (your blood pressure is normal), you may want to discuss being evaluated for a syrinx with your physician. This can be a symptom, esp. if it occurs only in certain positions.

That happens to me when I take Cialis, my balls start sweating excessively and I can feel everything down there. It's really nice to be able to feel rubbing down there, even if I am all sweaty. Don't know what's causing yours. Maybe you have a change in your spinal cord injury.

Make the best out of today because yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come. Nobody knows that better than those of us that have almost died from spinal cord injury.

I am another one-sided (left) sweater, both above and well below my level of my incomplete SC damage. It's not just typical perspiration, either -- I can completely saturate the left side of a shirt within 15 minutes of putting it on. The excessive perspiration occurs independent of my environment and is not constant -- I can be drenched in while outdoors sans jacket in winter weather or be totally dry in the Caribbean heat.

I produce almost no sweat on the right side of my body.

I've always attributed this to damage to my autonomic nervous system since it started immediately after the surgery in which my docs had to cut out tumor from within the medulla oblongotta (brain stem) and got worse just before I was diagnosed with a brain stem syrinx (syringobulbia).

Might want to try an ultrasound. Just because the sweating is on the outside doesn't mean something inside isn't going on. Am surprised the uro hasn't brought it up. Good luck!

You know I have a similar reaction to cialis. I'm a complete T-2 and swear I can feel my calf muscles when I take Cialis.

I also sweat on my left side only with the onset of AD

yep, one side only here, usually dont sweat, but with AD, one side only, straight down the one side also
