    Accidental Site Throttling

Hi all. In an effort to protect the site from robots and bad folks, I put in a "rate limit" rule that helps prevent any one IP address from hammering away at the site. In the past, we have had robots that would just try to eat the entire web site by requesting every single page constantly. It caused performance problems. Unfortunately, I seem to have set the throttle too low (200 requests per minute) so ordinary users were sometimes seeing a '403 Unauthorized' error, but with no obvious explanation why. You can see it in the graph below, little green dots.

If this affected you, I'm sorry. I've raised the limit so it shouldn't trip up ordinary people doing ordinary things. But hopefully it will stop some bad bots from doing us harm.
