    As an Australian and a music fan I am curious to know which ( if any ) Australian ( and what the hell New Zealand ) musical acts have made an impression overseas. Please tall me about your favourite Aussie ( or Kiwi ) bands ,songs ,concerts you may have attended etc.
    Thanks.

    Maybe no-one has heard any music from downunder. It certainly appears as none has made an impression (good or bad). Looks like us aussies need to give these guys some links to some new stuff coming out of oz just to get a reaction.

    There's plenty more where this comes from!
    Come on Lurch, give 'em an idea of what you listen to in FNQ with all ya mozzies. Maybe the yanks think that down here we all listen to tribal drums or something.

      Well rentabomb2257, there's some Brits on CC too.

      Hmm, got to say that there aren't any Aussie/New Zealand acts I'm a particular fan of. But one of my all-time favourite songs is by an Aussie band - The Go-Betweens. Love Is A Sign is one of the most wonderful songs I've ever heard. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of the band in general.

        That bluegrass guy, wth is his name? Plays 2 guitar parts at once, it's amazing. Also rocked my world w/ a didgeridoo. Dogger was familiar with him. This guy can literally play Dueling Banjos BY HIMSELF.

        ---->I miss dogger....

        Ahh. Tommy Emmanuel!

                I can't believe no one has mentioned the hugely influential and critically acclaimed Angry Anderson.

                  Thanks for the replies! Yes Angry Anderson sure can belt it out for a little guy. I hear Rose Tattoo ( and oz pub rock in general ) was a big influence on Guns and Roses.Nick Cave is definitely worth looking into for any Leonard Cohen /Johnny Cash Fan. Another Aussie sort of fits that mould is Tex Perkins who has perfromed in various incarnations the most notable of which are "The Beasts of Bourbon" ( hard pub rock ) and "THe Cruel Sea" ( funky ,bluest,groovy)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYEiJ...eature=related

                        Well like a few Aussie bands of that ers they were born in Britain ,came out to Australia as kids ,made it big and then went back to Britain . Same goes more or less for AC/DC.
